MVRDV's Market Hall in Rotterdam - Designer: MVRDV (Open in 2014) ... Part 1

Dutch architects MVRDV comes up with a new project right in the heart of the Laurens Quarter section of Rotterdam. The project is commissioned by Provast to come up with an open market place as well as housing 246 residencies that will live within the arc section that covers the market. This is a 3,000 sq. mile retail area, 1,600 sq. mile catering area on the ground floor and a 1,800sq. mile supermarket. There is an underground parking area for 1,100 cars!
The interior face of the arc will be covered with LED lighting that will change from time to time. The front and back of this wonderful structure will be covered with a flexible suspended glass facade that will allow for minimum structure but maximum transparency.

Berkeley Bowl West - Architect: Kava Massih Architects

Berkeley Bowl West is yet another structure that specializes in one theme only: food! It's a two-story foodmarket / super grocery store covering 144,217 square foot of land. Based out in Berekeley, California, Bowl West used to be a production plant and still contains its metallic beams and infrastructure from within. Glass panels surround most of the structure providing sunlight and inside the artificial lighting is bright enough to let you read the nutrition facts of a particular food item!

NikeTown NYC - Architect: LeClere Architects

What I liked about the NikeTown building is the fact that it's a circular plan. You begin from the ground floor and make your way up by using the escalators. You can get a real feel of the building by taking the elevator to the 5th floor and making your way down. You almost get a hint of the Guggenheim only here the structure is more square.
